As both a sales and authorised service partner for eWater Systems products, they have a well of experience and insight into how eWater, waste reduction, and water conservation come together to deliver a future proof solution for their customers.
Tell us a little bit about Think Sustainable Solutions and the team?
Think Sustainable Solutions is a family-owned profit-for-purpose plumbing business. We have a focus on providing smart sustainable plumbing services and advice to the greater Sydney area.
Colin and Piet Flynn are two brothers that grew up in Orange NSW and now call the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney home. Colin has been plumbing for 18 years both in Australia and Europe, and Piet has developed his career in sales and business management.
What led you towards establishing a business focused around plumbing and sustainability? What is the relationship between them?
We are equally alarmed at the challenge global climate change presents our generation and also excited by the momentous shift towards sustainable thinking almost everywhere we go.
Waste reduction along with energy and water conservation play such an important role in reducing our long-term impact on the world. Through the implementation of smart plumbing and supporting plumbing technologies such as grey water and water retention systems, businesses and households alike can conserve and optimise their water use.
We believe that everyone has a role to play and we have built our business around supporting people with making smart choices about how they use water.
What products and services do you offer, and what sort of customers are you working with?
We offer a complete plumbing service including hot and cold water services, no-dig pipe relining, drainage and gas fitting as well as full bathroom and laundry renovation services, all providing the most sustainable options for our customers. We have an amazing client base in Sydney including strata managers, businesses and private home owners all looking for a reliable trustworthy experienced plumbing service.
What has led you to work with eWater Systems products and how does it fit into your business ethos?
We installed an eWater Standalone System in a restaurant in Sydney a few years ago and loved the technology so much we approached eWater to get involved. Since then we have built our relationship with eWater and joined their reseller program. As a business focused on providing strategic plumbing and sustainable solutions eWater is a natural fit.
What do you see as the benefits for your customers in using eWater? What feedback do you get from them once they start working with it?
There are enormous benefits to our customers using eWater Hygiene Systems, whether it’s a high-end restaurant, hotel or a childcare facility. eWater provides these businesses with the ability to reduce their chemical, waste and carbon footprint while bringing in substantial cost efficiencies.
The feedback we get from staff in these venues is incredible, being non-hazardous its better for their health, they save time and the environmental benefits really get everyone excited.
What trends and other innovations are you seeing in the market for sustainable products?
There are some pretty cool innovations at the moment, especially in the construction and services industry. Along with products like eWater who are delivering a great solution within the food industry, there are some great companies providing food waste solutions that remove huge amounts of organic waste.
One of the biggest trends we see in the sustainable space is the growing B-Corp community, we are on our way to be a certified B-Corp and respect any business that takes on the challenge of bettering their social and environmental performance.
You are based in Sydney, who are some local businesses are leading the way with sustainability?
We are very lucky in Sydney as there are so many amazing companies leading the way in sustainability. There is a building company based in Bondi that offsets its carbon emissions and puts social responsibility before profit, this is refreshing in the construction industry (ref. Verdecon)
In the food and beverage industry, a stand out in Sydney for us is 4 Pines Brewery. A leading B Corp in Australia, they have established the 4 Pines Save the Pines Program that is working towards eliminating all single use plastics from their offices, venues, and supply chains, are committed to purchasing 100% renewable electricity and many more creative ways of bettering the community and environment.
Finally, we must give a shout out to the iconic Taronga Zoo in Sydney. One of the most famous and beloved places in the city, Taronga are also a leading force in sustainability. (editors note - Taronga have installed eWater across their sites and currently use it across all areas of their operation - including with animals).
